L’uno ottobre 2019 è il 274° giorno dell’anno e la Chiesa ricorda Santa Teresa di Lisieux. A Bologna, il sole sorge alle 7,16 e tramonta alle 18,53. La luna è crescente. Giornata internazionale delle persone anziane.

Il primo ottobre 1989, la Danimarca introduce la prima legge moderna al mondo sull’unione civile tra persone dello stesso sesso. La legge approvata in Danimarca non permetteva però che le unioni civili potessero essere chiamate “matrimoni”: le coppie gay sposate non potevano, per esempio, adottare bambini, né celebrare il proprio matrimonio in chiesa. A quei tempi, comunque, la legge fu vista come un importantissimo passo in avanti sul tema dei diritti gay. Molti paesi negli anni successivi hanno seguito l’esempio della Danimarca. Negli anni Novanta diversi stati introdussero leggi che equiparavano di fatto il matrimonio omosessuale a quello eterosessuale, ma il matrimonio gay diventò legale per la prima volta solo nel 2001, nei Paesi Bassi. Gli olandesi sorpassarono nettamente la legge danese eliminando ogni distinzione fra matrimonio omosessuale ed eterosessuale. In Italia, la legge sulle unioni civili è entrata in vigore nel giugno 2016. L’istituto riconosce dal punto di vista giuridico la coppia di fatto formata da persone dello stesso sesso, estendendo anche alle coppie omosessuali gran parte dei diritti e dei doveri previsti per il matrimonio e modificando lo stato civile dei componenti della coppia stessa, ad eccezione della cosiddetta stepchild adoption. Il dibattito è ancora acceso. Ma di cosa ha bisogno un bambino orfano o abbandonato? Innanzitutto di amore, il resto viene da sé.
